Mixed Media Mini with Envelope Pockets

I used mixed media collage techniques to create a small “bonus” mini for my new friend Karen.. I decided to make it because I had created some cool elements that just wouldn’t work in her regular book….so rather than throw them away…I made a little book to show off these great envelop with folding pockets and lots of places for tags, pictures and journaling. I did a short tutorial at the end on how to create a similar envelope Pocket Mini.

@MsJaay101 thanks so much! This is one of my favorite “go to” tEchniques for creating pockets for minis. Let me know how it works for you if you try it.

  3. MsJaay101 says:

Very nice album. Love the three envelope pockets.

  4. WhatYouMakeIt1 says:

First of all let me say, “we all started with our first set of stamps and some ink!” So I am excited for you that you are embarking on this new adventure! Secondly, I think I create my best art when I approach it “childishly” with no fear of failure so I hope you will get your stamps out and make a GRAND MESS! To answer your question about attaching the envelopes, I used a very strong double sided tape called it red liner tape

  5. MissWitchiepoo says:

I have just bought my very first inks and stamps ever. So watching your video I have a question that may seem idiotic to all you who are proffs:) How did you stick the envolopes on the the cover?? This album if very beautiful and all the things in it. It is very inspirering watching these videos even though whatever I make it will look like a child did it next to what all you talented people do;)

  6. SilverOneJ says:

@WhatYouMakeIt1 I wish I could do a video of this procedure, but I do not have a video camera. I could probably do a slide show of sorts. I’ll have to work on it.

  7. WhatYouMakeIt1 says:

@SilverOneJ I would love to see how yours with the 5 envelopes turned out — bet it was FABULOUS! Now you have my brain working overtime trying to work it out in my head how that would look! Thanks for sharing the idea!

  8. SilverOneJ says:

I tried this and I used 5 envelopes. Lots more storage with the tags and photos. Wonderful idea – thanks for sharing.

Hey Leslie…the spine is cardstock….but I ran it through the cuttlebug to texturize it and then added Mod Podge to give it a bit more strength and that may have made it sound like metal — and then my “ever present” rub and buff to give it the “look” of metal. I appreciate your encouragement….sometimes the brain works…and sometimes…not so much! *smile*

  22. boknstet says:

@boknstet Ooops, sorry didn’t mean to click the “Post” button twice. Can’t delete it either.

  23. boknstet says:

Why does the spine sound metallic? OMG, the fold out part is absolutely FAB. I love your tags, especially the butterfly. How did you figure all that out????? You amaze me. Thanks for showing how you came up with the idea for this. You have one seriously crafty brain!!!!
    Leslie

Your mini book is beautiful, but I cannot imagine photos in it — it would hide all the lovely creativity.

The Rothschilds are enslaving the People of the US via the fraudulent criminal conspiracy known as the illegal, unConstitutional Federal Reserve. The entire US government is now simply a puppet of the Rothschild banking dynasty.

Gary … Love you message and appreciate what you’re doing :) Donna

  29. WineMarketProf says:

Gary, just one question (Disclaimer- I’m a Professor in Wine Marketing and I use, and cite, some of your materials in courses on ‘Trends in the wine sector’): We’re noticing that critics are often the first to comment and the most frequent posts in response to new on-line content. Given that wine producers are almost always novices in e-media, how do you encourage them to get past those first few difficult steps into the new age? Damien Wilson (WineBusProf)

    @wizzardsblog
Don’t try playing Russian Roulett you can die.
    Well… never mind, go ahead.

  31. wizzardsblog says:

@TheAmericanRifleman Make your own mind up whether you want to watch something, sure recommendations and comments are great. I prefer to try something myself despite negative comments. Then I take comfort in the thought that I made my own mind up.

  32. wizzardsblog says:

I would say never apologise for who you are or what you do, everyone’s entitled to their opinion of you whether it be complimentary or hurtful. Got a suggestion to the 2 highly rated comments, watch his other stuff, he hasn’t purposefully tailored his talk to mimic anything, that’s how passionate Gary is. No I’m not kissing his backside. I’ve watched many of his talks. To some he may seem too excited, get past that, a lot he says is common sense, companies just have to wake up and see that.

  33. ThisJustZen says:

    You the man Coach Gary!

  34. MyFiveAlive says:

@GaryVaynerchuk Gary it took me a bit to get you i must say when everyone was jazzing on you…but I actually went to to your site today b/c I “wanted to see what Gary was up to”. I like you man. thx.

  35. GaryVaynerchuk says:

@soundscapenyc I hate that thats how I came off but I get it, I get to excited and it hurts me in some peoples eyes, I am so sorry Sound and hoep I can apologize in person one day

  36. GaryVaynerchuk says:

@rubberbaby00 I am super sorry you feel that way :( I really am, I hope we can meet in person one day, i really do

  37. GaryVaynerchuk says:

@rubberbaby00 super sorry you felt that way man :( sucks, I hope we can meet in person one day!

  38. winetrippingTV says:

I have to admit I’ve fallen into the trap of the “show up and throw up” version of internet marketing. In person, I’m very caring, but sometimes online I just spew info. He’s right about so much. It’s a mentality change that needs to happen.

  39. redtrolleyhomes says:

@ConradMcBad – Wrong. The message is “show people that you listen to what they’re saying and that you actually give a crap, and they’re a lot more likely to buy from you later down the road… and in the meantime they’re also more likely to publicly promote your brand, service or product on your behalf”. Big difference.

  40. redtrolleyhomes says:

@rubberbaby00 – Sounds like you are still asleep my friend. Gary just gave you the answers to the test.

  41. yeffyparadise says:

@ConradMcBad and when is the last time a major corporation was nice to you?

  42. thedailyenglishshow says:

@mypianoclimbs He says “mobile” (as in mobile phones/cellphones). Mobile is pronounced differently in different English dialects.

  43. drchaffee says:

This guy could sell the ‘fuck’ out of sham-wow!! He’s kind of like Richard Simmons, only with a less dorky outfit. But, he’s right – rather than spend $10M on a commercial spread, they ought to hire a bunch of $8/hour folks to be twitter friends.

  44. TheAmericanRifleman says:

Wow, I was getting ready to watch it, but all your comments talked me out if it. Thanks for saving me ten minuts.

  45. Ch28Kid says:

    I like gary!

  46. Meowbay says:

I have no problem with cursing or the words “fuck” and “fucking”, but I do have a problem with someone who is using cursewords just to be using cursewords. It’s too obvious and thick. If he would have skipped the cursing, his talk would have been fine.

  47. mistacramer says:

A stuck up douche-bag who goes on and on about how he loves to blog about wine. I could not care less about his shitty, middlebrow wine recommendations…If the world is thinking, it is not in this room. Unsubscribe.

  48. RondoRaven says:

@Tippersnore if you buy a private island on ebay

  49. RondoRaven says:

Marketing as we know it is founded on the mass-distribution paradigm of the 1950′s and depends heavily on control of what information consumers have access to. I’m certain the dinosaurs aren’t going to just give up and let Manhattan fall into the ocean, so the notion that the internet has not yet matured is a little spooky.

  50. Ceolfrin says:

If someone could tell me where I could get the intro music I’d be happy to pay for it.
@soundscapenyc and rubberbaby00 – His performance was something I would show in class to exhibit a well delivered speech. He starts w / a good intro and his message, distilled, is that a more humanistic approach to marketing is necessay to confront a changing world where product reputation and consumer cynasism require business to use the internet to manage and respond to this new form of communication
